Coffs Coast Family Psychology offers individual and family psychological treatment for a broad range of emotional, behavioural and cognitive issues affecting young people including:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Self-esteem issues

  • Adjustment difficulties including grief and loss and family separation

  • Social skills development such as conflict resolution, problem solving, initiating and maintaining friendships, assertiveness, resilience building, and coping with bullying.

  • Challenging behaviours including anger/aggression, risk taking behaviour, school refusal

Common evidence-based therapeutic treatments applied include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), play therapy, Schema therapy and Narrative therapy. Often, treatment involves a combination of approaches, depending on the client's needs. While each session is driven by the young person's goals, every effort is made to ensure sessions are fun, warm and validating.

Therapy is offered both face to face and through Telehealth. Individuals may book a combination of both depending on their schedule and preference. Confidentiality is maintained at all times across any therapeutic platform.

Clare is able to provide therapy for individuals who have an NDIS plan.

Coffs Coast Family Psychology is NOT a crisis support service. Individuals in crisis should call 000 or present at their nearest emergency department.

Psychological Assessments and Diagnosis

Assessments form a key part of all psychological intervention and can be either formal or unstructured. Coffs Coast Family Psychology provides assessments for:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • ADHD

  • Mental health assessments (e.g. anxiety, depression)

  • Behavioural assessments and written behaviour support plans for NDIS or educational providers (e.g. adaptive behaviour assessments for NDIS)

Where a formal assessment is administered, a written report will be provided to the family detailing assessment tools, results and diagnosis where appropriate.
